Abstract
In the current study, multicomponent complex sentences in the Udmurt literary language were investigated as both language and discourse units by combining standard analytical and anthropocentric approaches. A classification of different types of such complex sentences was proposed. Various connections between their components were described and categorized. The following four types of blend multicomponent sentences were identified: those characterized by parataxis and hypotaxis; those exhibiting parataxis and asyndeton; those displaying hypotaxis and asyndeton; and those combining parataxis, hypotaxis, and asyndeton. The statistical analysis revealed the prevalence of subordinate and asyndetic connections (45.1 %), which can be assigned to the interplay of linguistic, cultural, and social factors, including the influence of Russian syntax and individual stylistic attributes of the studied authors. The results indicate a trend towards increasing syntactic complexity in the Udmurt literary language as part of the ongoing transformation of its syntactic system and, on the whole, its dynamic evolution.
