В настоящей статье охарактеризованы основные этапы формирования исторического образа просветителя чувашского народа И.Я. Яковлева (1848–1930) в период со второй половины XIX по первую четверть XXI в. Выделены тенденции изменения исторической памяти, ключевые установки и формы, которые коммеморация обретала на каждом из этапов. Упорядочены основные факты конструирования яковлевского образа, выделены условия его репрезентации, введены в оборот раннее неизвестные архивные источники, расширяющие рамки представлений о российском педагоге. Подход к изучаемой проблеме осуществлен с позиции идей и установок теории мемориального поворота и коммеморативных практик, что дает возможность представить все многообразие способов формирования исторического образа И.Я. Яковлева. Сделан вывод о том, что в ситуации «мемориального поворота» российской гуманитаристики необходимо целенаправленное изучение особенностей формирования исторической памяти и влияния на этот процесс различных коммеморативных практик.

This article describes the main stages in the development of the historical image of I.Ya. Yakovlev (1848–1930), a prominent figure who promoted the pursuit of education among the Chuvash people, covering the period from the second half of the 19th century to the first quarter of the 21st century. Some of the major trends that reshaped the historical memory of him are outlined. The key ways, along with the ideas underlying them, in which he was commemorated at each stage are identified. The major facts and conditions that influenced the formation and representation of his image are examined. Previously unpublished archival materials adding considerably to the current knowledge about him are introduced. Based on the theory of memorial turn and the analysis of commemorative practices, various perspectives on I.Ya. Yakovlev and his legacy are explored. The results of the study suggest that the “memorial turn” in Russian humanities requires more attention to the formation of historical memory and its dependence on different commemorative practices.
